Preparing British students in Israel for their return to campus
StandWithUs Israel provides Israel advocacy training to groups of leading British University students in partnership with Bnei Akiva and Tribe-UK. Participants take part in lectures with StandWithUs staff where they address major issues concerning Israel’s image abroad. Upon their return to the UK, students will be connected to the SWU UK office where they will implement their education into effective activism for Israel on campus. Remembering Yoni StandWithUs Israel partnered with Bnei Akiva and the Yoni Jesner Foundation to remember Yoni Jesner, almost ten years after he was killed by a Palestinian bus bomber. Yoni, from Glasgow, Scotland, was just 19 when he was killed in a suicide bombing on a bus in Israel, in 2002. Following his death, his kidney was donated which saved the life of a Palestinian girl. Yoni’s drive, determination and infectious enthusiasm allowed him to achieve more than his 19 years than many people do in a lifetime. He was an inspirational youth leader and a true role model for many young people. Yoni’s mother, Marsha Gladstone, told her emotional story to a rapt audience of students. The television documentary of Yoni’s murder and Marsha’s return to Israel to meet with doctors and the Palestinian girl who was saved by Yoni’s kidney, was also screened. A clip of Marsha’s story and her emotional journey can be seen here: |
